CROSSING IN FIVE

A Bird and a fish

A BIRD AND A FISH was made in El Paso Texas as part of Jazmin’s time at the Border Art Residency.

It is a visual representation of heartbreak: love, chaos, regret, acceptance, and letting go. The film uses tarot as a narrative structure and was made in collaboration with El Paso and Juárez artists in the winter of 2022.

The cinematography in Seeds was inspired by 90’s VHS tapes and the aesthetics of Nacho Libre. The directors wanted a light, comedic tone with a vintage look, saving more dramatic lighting for emotional scenes. In order to achieve this, I rented re-housed Russian lenses from the 1990’s and used high key and natural lighting.

Filmed on the Sony FX3.
